DESCRIPTION: This beautifully carved hardwood neck rest is an authentic piece originating from the Eastern Sepik River region, created by the Yangoru culture. Crafted as a means of promoting health and aiding in recovery from illness, the piece features two animal-like creatures, possibly monitors, positioned at either ends and two delicately carved human figures on the underside.
It is a fine example of a well-preserved traditional medicine neck rest, showcasing intricate craftsmanship.
MATERIAL: Hardwood, with a rich patina from long-term use.
