Shaman mask from the Rai people living in the Terai region in the south-east plains of Nepal. These Terai masks are considered to have propitiatory virtues and are used in rituals aimed at treating illnesses.
This particular mask features squared eyes and mouth. The mouth was originally full of teeth, now some are lost and only those on the lower side remain.
Nice dark patina and wear consistent with age and use.No stand included.
