Antique Nepalese/Tibetan Hanoman Wooden Figure

Description: Old, expressive wooden statuette from Nepal, depicting the Hindu god Hanoman in its simian semblance, standing up, keeping his mace (gada), by now broken on top.

Made in strong heavy wood, painted with red pigment, by now faded away.

Beside the missing mace, there is a chip at the belt buckle (please see the pictures), and couple of natural cracks of the wood, absolutely not dangerous.

Apart from this, and some other minor signs of wear and tear the piece is in very good condition and features a nice patina from age and handling.

Provenience: Private Italian collection.

Period: early 20th century
