Antique Magar mask from the Jumla region in West Nepal, dating back to the first half of the 20th century. It is crafted from hard wood and features a dark, smooth patina indicative of its age and use. The mask's surface shows areas of erosion, particularly around the edges and facial features The front of the mask is designed with simple, yet striking, geometric features—a prominent triangular nose, deep-set oval eye holes, and a small open mouth. The side view reveals the mask’s substantial thickness, with the rough-hewn texture visible along the sides. The back of the mask shows evidence of hand carving, with visible tool marks. Overall, the mask has an excellent patina, suggesting frequent use in traditional rituals or ceremonies.
